One Hour

In a different blog, I wrote a post called "One Year":

If you do something for 24 hours a day for an entire year, then it definitely is a big part of your life.

Now, the (half-pseudo) follow up:
If you do something for just one hour a day for two months, then it is a big part of your life.

You vs The World vs Yourself

It's you versus the world. Don't end up fighting yourself.

Aka, remove the self-doubt. Also, the world isn't that bad.

"Common" Sense

"Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire

Axiom: We all start with zero knowledge.
Axiom: We all learn at different paces.
Axiom: We all learn different things at different times.

Experience To Share

It's not that one person is smarter than another person, it's just that we all have different experiences to share.

It's Called Embarrassment Learning

1. Because I'm willing to embarrass myself, I have been able to do and learn more.
2. Because I don't really want to be embarrassed, I learn more.

Social Influence

Trying to break free from the reigns of social influence. Not sure it is 100% possible.

Good vs Evil vs Voting

Have you heard the quote about evil triumphing if the good do nothing?

Then, why don't you vote?

The Real Mac vs PC Conversation

I used to correct people, telling them that Macs are also PCs because PC just stands for personal computer. But, now I've realized that Macs aren't PCs because of two reasons:
1. They don't allow as much personalization.
2. People don't own Macs, Macs own People.

Maximize Summary

I Am

I am whatever I am good at. And, for things I'm not good at, I always try to get better.

"Seeing" Frets

It's not about "seeing" where all the notes are on a guitar, it's more about being used to different fingering patterns.

Infinite Willpower

Some people conclude that each person only has a certain amount of willpower to use everyday. It's a great idea that I've believed in and it seems to make sense because you can see it everyday as people "burn-out" doing things they don't want to do, like studying, working, not-eating, etc. But, I'd like to present a different side of this.

Thinking that you only have a certain amount of willpower to spare is just an excuse to give up. So, forget about willpower, it may be the wrong line of thinking if you want to reach [more] goals and give up less.

So, what do you do without willpower leading your life? You live and do whatever you want to do, without thinking/worrying about any "scientific" or psychological reasons/excuses. Whatever your current goal is, focus in on that one. Remind yourself every second, minute, hour, and/or day to get your top priorities done first (see my post on Priority Lists). Caveat: Your well-being typically comes first, which includes sleeping and possibly eating.

Any weakness is just in your head, and you can overcome it.

My original note-to-self said:
Infinite willpower by not knowing what willpower is.

Half a World Away

There are two main countries that I have lived in: USA and Japan. So, when I think of someone being half a world away, one of the first thoughts I have is that the person is in a timezone half a day away.

Now, an interesting concept is that a person half-a-world away could be in the same timezone. That makes me feel better. And, knowing that the Internet connects us is another perk.

Positive Chaos

Chaos doesn't have to be a negative.

Creativity comes from the bowels of chaos in the mind.

One thinks of many random things, some good, some bad, some average. That's chaos - just a lot of different things going on.

Q: How do you stop chaos?
A: By doing the exact same thing over and over and over and over again repeatedly.

Now that I've mentioned chaos in this different perspective, isn't it time to embrace chaos more?
